Replacing a Hotrod & Firepot

  1. Unplug the Traeger before performing any troubleshooting.
  2. Remove pellets from the hopper.
  3. Unscrew the control panel.
  4. Unscrew front and back screws connecting hopper.
  5. Carefully remove hopper.
  6. Carefully cut zip ties.
  7. Disconnect purple cable and RTD wire.
  8. Remove grill grate, drip pan, and heat baffle.
  9. Use a ¼” nut driver to remove the firepot.
  10. Loosen the hotrod screw (do not remove).
  11. Remove the hotrod by pulling it through the firepot side.
  12. Insert the new hotrod from the hopper side.
  13. Insert hotrod to about ¼” in the firepot
  14. Tighten hotrod screw ( do not over tighten )
  15. If you are replacing the old firepot, do it at this time. Put the firepot back in the slot.
  16. Screw and tighten nuts.
  17. Reconnect the purple and the RTD wire.
  18. Use a zip tie to gather wire together.
  19. Reassemble the hopper.
  20. Screw on the controller.
