Grilled Trout with Citrus & Basil

This grilled trout recipe will make you look like a grillin’ villain. Stuff the herbs, spices, and lemons between 2 trout filets, tie them together, and give the bundle a quick 5 minute grill on each side--it comes out fresh and flavorful every time.

6 Whole Trout
2 Teaspoon Traeger Blackened Saskatchewan Rub, or more as needed
12 Sprig fresh basil
3-4 lemons, sliced
As Needed Extra-virgin olive oil

    When ready to cook, set the Traeger temperature to 450°F and preheat with the lid closed for 15 minutes.

    Season the center cavity of the trout with the Traeger Blackened Saskatchewan Rub.

    Ingredients
    • 6 Whole Trout

    • 2 Teaspoon Traeger Blackened Saskatchewan Rub, or more as needed

    Place two sprigs of basil in each cavity, then add 4 lemon slices. Using butcher's twine, tie the fish closed, then rub with olive oil.

    •  3-4 lemons, sliced

    Place the trout directly on the grill grates. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes on each side, until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.

    Remove the trout from the grill and serve warm. Enjoy!
