We're so excited that you've chosen to join the Traeger Nation. Before cooking on your Traeger, you will need to season your grill--sometimes called burning in your grill. This is a simple, one-time process that will burn off any residual, non-toxic oils/lubrication from the manufacturing process.
Please note that during the burn in process, it is normal to experience an odd smell due to burning off the residual manufacturing oils.
A WiFIRE-enabled (D2) grill will typically take around 1 hour and 30 minutes from startup to shutdown to complete the seasoning process.
A non WiFIRE-enabled (AC) grill will typically take about 1 hour from startup to shutdown.
Before seasoning your grill, take advantage of your grill's WiFIRE capacities. You can do almost all of the seasoning process from your phone. Download the Traeger app and connect your grill.
*These steps can be done from the app.
If during the life of your grill, you receive new internal parts (grill grates, heat baffle, drip tray, firepot), you will need to re-season your grill to remove the manufacturing oils on the new part.
