Why should I buy a Traeger vs. any other grill?

Well, if flavor matters to you, then that’s the first reason to get the original wood pellet grill and join the Traeger Nation. Gas can’t hold a candle to our pure hardwood taste, and charcoal comes up short when it comes to enhancing the flavor of your food.

But the best part is how easy it is to create superior tasting meals on a Traeger. Just turn on the grill, set your desired temperature on our digital controllers, and throw your food on the grill. That’s it. From smoked turkey and blueberry french toast, to baby back ribs and even wood-fired cocktails, you can master it all on a Traeger in no-time.

Does a Traeger Grill get hot enough?

From searing to roasting, a Traeger definitely gets hot enough to get any job done. We’re talking a max temp of 500 degrees on the new Ironwood and Timberline, and 450F on every other Traeger grill on the market.

Will this grill fall apart within a year?

Aside from an act of God, no it will not. Heck, our grills are so tough, they can take a direct hit from a tree. Seriously. Check out what happened a few years ago in John Copley’s backyard in Spokane.

Traeger grills are built-to-last. Every Traeger features superior structural construction, an ultra-sturdy base and built-tough steel legs. If something does go wrong, our ironclad 3-year warranty and 365 days of customer service will cover any issue that may arise.

Does a Traeger Grill really taste better than my gas grill?

Oh yeah, by a long shot too. Pure hardwood taste is delivered directly to your food with our signature heat and smoke - producing unbeatable wood-fired flavor every time you push ignite.

What if I want to sear?

We often get asked “can I sear on a Traeger?” You absolutely can sear on any of our grills. Don’t confuse grill marks for searing. They are not the same. Searing occurs between 350° and 500°F. You can find more information on our preferred searing method, the Reverse Sear.

What if I don't want everything to taste super smoky?

You can actually decide how smoky your food will taste. The higher the temps the grill is set to, the less smoke there will be. Food cooked at temps between 165° - 225°F is going to have more smoke flavor than food cooked at higher temps.

This smoker makes you feel like an instant pit master. I was skeptical of what I would be able to do with this pit as I have only ever used charcoal or gas grills. The first thing I smoked was a brisket and it turned out so good. My parents and family loved it. The second brisket was even BETTER. From classic BBQ, to beer can chicken, salmon, mac and cheese, jalapeño poppers, and brownies, this thing makes everything taste incredible. Honestly, I have no reason to ever buy BBQ again and I live in Texas! Nathaniel J., TX

What if I don't know which wood pellets to use?

We’ve spent years mastering the development of hardwood pellets. We’ve spent years mastering the development of hardwood pellets that have just the right amount of moisture content—the sweet spot—to maintain a perfect burn-to-smoke ratio. Pellets with the wrong moisture ratio, create bitter-tasting white smoke, instead of pure, blue smoke, due to high carbon content. Other pellet mills bind their hardwood with additives. They source the wood from old flooring or cabinetry, making it a mystery to what’s in it, or where it came from. Traeger only uses 100% virgin hardwood and our pellets do not contain any unnatural additives or fillers. All of the Traeger Pellet Mills are located right here in the USA which lets Traeger oversee the entire process to ensure the pellets meet our strong guidelines for smoke perfection.

We have a long list of wood pellet options to customize your cooks and discover new flavor combinations with - Hickory, Mesquite, Apple, Pecan, Oak, Cherry, Maple, and Alder. Additionally, we have crafted specialty pellet blends including Big Game, Turkey, and our Texas Beef. Alder is great for fish and a lighter smoke flavor for any meal. Mesquite is our most robust pellet flavor. It’s great for game meats and pulled pork. Oak is an all-around flavor enhancer, boosting everything from beef, to chicken. See our pellet guidefor more details.

How often do I need to buy pellets?

A bag of pellets lasts about as long as a propane tank does for a gas grill. It really comes down to the variables, like the temperature your cooking at, what types of food you’re Traegering, and even the weather. Just know that more pellets are used to fuel the fire at higher temps, than at lower cooking temperatures.

My Traeger Silverton makes 6 grills I now own. You can say I’m kinda obsessed with grilling. I will tell anyone who will listen that the Traeger is HANDS DOWN the best grill I’ve used in 35+ years of cooking! The versatility, convenience, and sheer thrill of looking for new ways to cook things that I’d never THOUGHT I’d put on a grill is beyond my ability to describe! My friends and family tell me I’m a nut for my infatuation with Traeger but they sure don’t turn down samples I give them! Seriously! My other 5 grills haven’t been TOUCHED in the 6 months I have my Traeger. BEST INVESTMENT EVER!! John F., LA
